Kenya has spent KES 5.2 billion in drought mitigation

The government has already spent KES 5.2 billion in drought mitigation, National Drought and Management Authority CEO James Oduor has said.
An additional 7.1 billion has been set aside for the period between February and April and KES 8.1 billion for May and September, Daily Nation reveals.
This year alone, about KES 50 million has been spent to fight drought in various counties.
Kenya has experienced drought since last year, spreading to about 13 counties so far.
According to FAO, over 12 million people in Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia are currently in need of emergency food.
