Al Shabaab shoot dead police reservist in Mandera
They were targeting a guesthouse believed to be hosting nonlocals
Al Shabaab militants shot dead a police reservist who was guarding Mandera Deputy Governor’s home in an attack early Monday morning.
The insurgents were allegedly targeting Jabane guesthouse but missed after police on patrol confronted them.
The guesthouse, which is believed to have been hosting nonlocals at the time of the attack, is a few meters from the Deputy Governor’s residence, The Standard reports.
The Star adds that police managed to remove and detonate the IEDs they had planted near the hotel.
