Audit of voters register begins

Audit of voters register has already commenced, audit firm KPMG has announced.
The firm will verify data contained in the 2013 voters roll as well as the MVR data.
The purpose of the audit is to clean up the voters roll by ensuring that the people registered to participate in the August general election are qualified according to the Kenyan laws.
To achieve this objective, KPMG will check the data against ID cards and passport details provided by the principal Registrar of Persons and the Director of Immigration.
The register will also be reviewed against the certified register of deaths to ensure that no dead voters are on the list.
The audit process is expected to be completed 90 days before the elections, Capital FM reports.
