Baringo attacks: President turns to KDF

KDF to deal with bandits, help with disarmament

President Uhuru Kenyatta has deployed KDF to help contain Baringo attacks that have claimed dozens of lives and hundreds of livestock.
Speaking during the police pass-out parade Friday, the President said the bandits were enemies of the state and will be treated as such.
The President announced that the National Security Council – which he chairs – has authorised the immediate deployment of KDF to support the National Police in restoring law and order in parts of Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, Pokot and Laikipia counties.
“The deployment will further assist in disarmament and surrender of illegally held arms,” he added.

Over 100 families evacuated from Makutani

This came just a day after the armed bandits engaged police officers who were evacuating residents from Makutani.
According to reports, over 100 families have been evacuated from the clash-ridden area.
