Slain Baringo Chief, Thomas Chebor Ruttok died while serving his people.
Chief Chebor was shot dead by suspected Pokot bandits during a mission to recover stolen goats on Friday, The Star reports.
He was killed just a few meters from Batabwa trading centre where Deputy President William Ruto was holding a peace rally.
Residents of Ng’orora location have eulogised the chief as a humble leader who worked hard to reconcile the warring Pokot and Tugen communities.
Following the murder of Chief Chebor, members of the community have fled their homes for fear of attacks.
However, in a bid to tame the situation, DP Ruto dispatched 250 police reservists whom he issued with shoot-to-kill orders.
