Climate change threatens internet

Physical internet is at risk of inundation

Buried fiber optic cables are at risk of submersion due to rising sea levels.
According to Paul Barford, a UW-Madison professor of computer science, infrastructure such as the buried fiber optic cables, data centers, traffic exchanges and termination points will be affected.
The submersion could occur in 15 years if nothing is done to mitigate it.
