Court stops Marwa from making utterances about “Joho man”
The high court in Mombasa has barred Coast regional coordinator, Nelson Marwa from making any utterances concerning businessman Aharubi Khatri.
High court judge Thande Mugure has cautioned Marwa against making statements, addressing the media both electronic and print linking the businessman to drug abuse on illegal ownership of firearms.
Mugure told the court on Wednesday that Khatri filed the case and served Marwa with a notice last Friday.
Mugure said that Khatri sworn an affidavit at the high court gagging Marwa from conducting any press conferences over the matter.
Arrested and detained over drugs, illegal arms claims
However, Marwa said he has not received any notice from the high court concerning Khatri’s claims.
Khatri is challenging charges that he is a drug dealer and also owns illegal firearms, following his arrest and detention on 13th January this year in Mombasa.
The ‘Joho man’ made Mombasa Governor, Ali Hassan Joho and Mvita MP, Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir to be detained at the Regional CID headquarters in Mombasa on 13th of January as they sought his release.
Mugure told the court that an inter-party hearing will be done on the 7th of February this year.
