Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has hit out at Governor Lee Kinyanjui saying he got his development priorities wrong.
Speaking when she presided over the issuance of cheques to various women and youth groups in Nakuru County, Kihika castigated the Governor for using millions of shillings to purchase courtesy buses which she said were not a priority to the people of Nakuru.
The fiery Senator said that Nakuru County had more pressing issues that should be addressed before buying buses.
She cited lack of medical supplies in public hospitals as one of the many urgent needs the county should address.
Kihika defended her constant criticism of the county government saying that is part of her oversight work as a Senator.
She denied claims that she was fighting Governor Lee Kinyajui adding that the right time to politic will come.
“When I oversight the county government, I’m just doing my job and that is not fighting,” said Kihika.
“Time for politics will come and when that time comes, I will do politics but for now I must continue making sure that your money is well utilized,” she added.
She challenged county Governments to prioritize payments of contractors’ especially special interest groups to enable them to repay back loans advanced to them by financial institutions.
Speaking when she presided over the issuance of cheques to various women and youth groups in Nakuru county, Kihika said that most women and youth groups given contracts by county governments are unable to pay back their loans because of delays by county governments to pay them.
She challenged beneficiaries of the women and youth funds to repay their loans to enable other groups to benefit from the same.
