JSC has castigated President Uhuru Kenyatta for making misleading comments.
During a political rally in Kisii, the President alluded to a political hand in the appointment of David Maraga as the new Chief Justice.
According to the Judiciary Chief Registrar Anne Amadi, the President’s remarks were erroneous and misleading to the public.

“There is neither room nor opportunity for the President to discharge this function in a political manner,” she said in a press statement.
The CJ also distanced himself from the claims, saying his appointment was done in accordance with the Constitution.
He further pledged to defend the independence and integrity of the judiciary, Daily Nation reports.
