KANU officials threaten to oust Salat for attending NASA meeting

KANU secretary general, Nick Salat has found himself on the receiving end for attending the National Super Alliance (NASA) meeting at the Bomas of Kenya Wednesday.
KANU Nakuru branch officials have distanced themselves from NASA, saying that Salat’s presence at the Bomas convention was personal, and he was in no way representing KANU.
Addressing the media in Nakuru, the party branch officials led by Chairman John Ngunjiri said that KANU delegates neither attended the NASA meeting nor authorized them to do so.
“The decision by Salat to attend the NASA meeting at Bomas was personal since no KANU delegates were in attendance nor were there any consultations through the national delegates’ conference with such resolutions,” said Ngunjiri.
The officials now want Salat to come out clear and say whom he was representing at the opposition meeting. ‘”
“We therefore pose to him the question: who does he represent?” posed Ngunjiri.
The branch officials further warned that they shall not be part of whatever decisions Salat takes without first consulting the other party stakeholders.
At the same time, they demanded a national delegate’s conference to be convened with the aim of ironing out pertinent issues within the party.
They gave Salat a seven-day notice to respond and explain whether his decision to join NASA was personal or collective party decision, failure to which they have threatened to push for his removal from office.
