The government has scrapped some degree programmes offered in local universities.
Some of the scrapped programmes include:
- Executive degrees
- School-based programmes
A recent quality audit on universities revealed that some institutions had flouted admission requirements and were awarding degrees to unqualified people.
The Standard cites one student who scored a mean grade of D+ in her KCSE and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in less than two years.
The ongoing reforms will see some graduates lose their credentials and university lecturers suspended from work after acquiring their papers irregularly.
