Man re-arrested for stealing church offering hours after receiving Presidential amnesty

Nyahururu, Kenya – A man who was released on Presidential amnesty on Thursday was Sunday caught stealing church offering in Nyahururu.
Lucas Ngugi was among the 7,000 petty offenders who were freed following a decree by President Uhuru Kenyatta during Mashujaa Day celebrations in Machakos last week.
He was however re-arrested few hours later after he was caught taking money from a church offering bag at Ol Jabet Independent Pentecostal Church in Laikipia West on October 23.
“As the bag was being passed around for us to give our offering, he picked some cash and put it in his pockets,” explained a congregant.
He arraigned in court Monday to answer to charges of stealing KES 900 from the church.
He was remanded at the Nyahururu GK Remand until November 2 when his case will be mentioned.
