Mombasa drug bust: 12 suspects arrested on Friday

12 suspects were arrested in Mombasa drug bust Thursday night. Those arrested included Simon Bosire who has been on police radar over drug trafficking.
 
Coast regional Police Commandant, Philip Tuimur said that the 12 include 8 Kenyans, 3 Italians and 1 Mauritanian.
Addressing the press at the Coast regional police headquarters on Friday afternoon, Tuimur said that the arrest is a major breakthrough in the fight against drug abuse and crime in the region.
Tuimur added that police recovered two pistols in the operation.
“The raid last night was very successful. We received two pistols, several sachets of heroin and money including local and foreign currencies,” Said Mr Tuimur.
He said that the raid was conducted in Ukunda, Diani Malindi and Mombasa.

He said that the crackdown on drug traffickers in the Coast region will continue and no stone will be left unturned.
He appealed to the Coastal residents to reveal information that will lead to the arrest of suspects involved in drug trafficking.
The Regional Police commandant said that police are targeting border points used in the illegal trade.
He mentioned the Mombasa Port, airports and Kenya-Tanzania border as some of the areas the security agents will zero in.
The crackdown comes barely a week after Coast regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa ordered the police to arrest Bosire who was the main suspect in the drug trafficking syndicate.
