Police officers on Monday caused a stir after blocking Governor Hassan Joho from attending the re-launch of Mtongwe Ferry by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Governor was expected to attend the function.
According to reports, police were acting on a directive from above.
They allegedly staged an operation at Nyali Bridge where they nabbed Joho from a motorbike and detained him at his office.
The last time Joho attended President Uhuru Kenyatta’s event in the region, he criticised him for launching projects that were initiated by Raila Odinga.
