NASA leaders are failures, Uhuru says

President Uhuru Kenyatta has said that National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders are failures.
While addressing locals at Witu in Lamu County after he officially began his four-day tour of the region on Thursday said the opposition leaders did not bring development while they were in power.
Uhuru who was accompanied by his Deputy William Ruto, said they need more time to implement their development agenda.
“We do not see any development agenda within NASA manifesto. We need a second term so we can accomplish our development agenda,” added the President.
He assured Lamu people that the government will provide more relief food to residents affected by hunger following the severe drought in the County and the entire Coastal region.

He admitted that over 50,000 Lamu residents and over 30,000 livestock were affected by the drought.
The President also revealed that Jubilee government was addressing the chronic land issue in the region to ensure that all residents get land for farming.
“Today we are issuing a total of 2,441 title deeds in various settlement schemes in Lamu County and we will do the same in the entire Coastal region,” he pledged.
While launching the Garsen-Witu-Lamu road, the President also said that a school feeding program will be revived.
He said that poverty has hampered education in the County and that the feeding program will ensure pupils remain in school.
He also appealed to Headteachers in poverty-stricken areas of Lamu not to send pupils home because of lack of school fees but consult with the government to ensure poor students and those affected by drought remain in school.
The President, who launched the construction of the 135-Kilometer Garsen-Witu-Lamu road which will cost over KES 10.4 billion is at the Coast region for four days to launch various development projects and woo voters ahead of the August election.
