Nairobi – Kakamega Senator, Boni Khalwale has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of launching ghost projects in the region.
Citing Webuye Pan Paper Mills that was reopened last month, the outspoken Senator said the factory is not working yet.
Speaking after touring the plant over the weekend, Khalwale said: “Am at Webuye Panpaper right now. ‘Reopened’ by Uhuru Kenyatta only a few weeks ago, like ghost it today stands abandoned.”
He also posted photos of the factory:
However, the Kenya Union of Printing, Publishing and Paper Manufacturers national Vice Chair dismissed the allegations saying the factory is currently producing 10 tonnes of paper per day since its reopening last month.
Watiti added that the factory has so far created employment to 1,000 locals, Standard reports.
