In a surprise move, a section of Patel dam victims in Solai ward of Nakuru County, are planning to hold demonstrations in support of the Patel farm owners.
This comes barely hours after the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji ordered for the arrest and prosecution of the killer dam owner and Patel coffee farm manager.
The protests which are planned for today are said to have been planned and influenced by a section of leaders who are said to be sympathetic to Patel.
However, victims of the tragedy seem to be split into two, with some of them accusing their colleagues of being duped by some leaders and the farm management to behave as if they were opposed to the prosecution of two Patel farm managers and six others as ordered by the DPP yesterday.
It is believed that immediately the announcement by Haji was made, some people took advantage of the desperate situation of the victims and gave them money to demonstrate in Solai centre.
Subukia MP Kinuthia Gachobe is accusing Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri of meddling in the affairs of his constituency given that victims were earlier this week duped into signing agreements that saw those who lost their loved ones receive KES 100,000 compensation from the Patel family in the presence of Nakuru county commissioner Joshua Nkanatha.
He said the fact that he and the area MCA were not involved in the compensation process was a clear indication that the whole process was mischievous and aimed at confusing the victims into signing agreements that would exonerate the Patel management from blame and future undertakings to compensate the victims.
