Tension rife in Narok as goons attack MCA

Supporters of the MCA retaliated by torching his opponent’s house

Tension is high in Olposimoru ward of Narok North Constituency after angry supporters of area Member of County Assembly torched the house of a former MCA.

Supporters of MCA Wilfred Kuyo torched the house of Wilson Masikonde on Friday evening accusing him of attacking and inflicting injuries on MCA Kuyo.

Trouble is said to have started when Kuyo led a delegation to visit a timber and tea factory owned by Masikonde in Kitpatigich area to assess the extent of forest destruction in the area.

It is during the visit that Kuyo was allegedly attacked by goons believed to have been hired by Masikonde, something the former MCA denied.

On his part, Masikonde accused Kuyo of hiring goons to disrupt operations at his company and later torch his house.

Local security team led by Nakuru county police commander Hassan Barua who also doubles as the Narok Police boss held a meeting with residents in a bid to tame the rising tension.

Barua warned that the Government will not sit and watch as politicians incite people saying that stern action will be taken against those who attacked the MCA and torched the house of the former MCA.

Masikonde linked the torching of his house to a petition he filed challenging the election of Kuyo as the area MCA.

In the petition, Masikonde accused Kuyo of using witchcraft to win the seat during the 2017 general election.

The High court in Narok ruled in Masikonde’s favour and ordered a repeat election but Kuyo filed an appeal which is expected to be determined on Monday.
